WOLF GAME MIGRATES TO ABSTRACT
A couple of days ago, Wolf Game (WG) officially “teased” that they’re migrating to Abstract. This move will happen under new leadership, by Seedphrase (previously led by Gfunk)
As one of the, or even being “the OG Ponzi game”, Abstract x Wolf Game seems fitting, considering the green chain is the home of the casino apps
WG was launched in November 2021, near the peak of the bull market cycle (for both tokens and NFTs). The project gained immediate traction with up to 4,300 ETH in volume in 24 hours, for its legacy NFT collection
Asset prices skyrocketed, and those who got involved made a good bag. This formed the basis for its community, which has been quite strong to this day
In early 2022, WG launched new mini-games, like Cave Game. And later in 2022, the game managed to stay relevant during the bear market. It was a “Wolf Game Summer”
However, like the majority of projects in the bear, the game struggled to maintain engagement, as this downward cycle prolonged. In 2023, PixelVault (led by Gfunk) acquired WG
In 2024, we saw a revival of the game on Blast through the relaunch of Cave Game. During this period, the game managed to reactivate some of its core community and gain some of its attention back…
However, this revival fizzled out, as Blast was a huge flop
This year, WG introduced a new Solana-based token and gameplay elements. However, the OG community felt confused and underappreciated with this new direction, and the decision was met with a lot of community FUD
So, this April, the decision was halted, and the Solana liquidity pool was removed, putting a pause on the project
As a result, Gfunk announced its resignation, and WG is now launching on Abstract under new leadership in 2025
With a key figure like Seedphrase taking over the wheel, a (hopefully final) relaunch could spark new success. However, the core community feeling appreciated and backing this change will be vital
I’d be curious if they are re-launching one of their previous games, or will come with a new design. Plus, I am curious about a new Abstract-based collection and how OGs will benefit from that
MOCAVERSE ANNOUNCES THE MOCA CHAIN
Yesterday, Mocaverse announced the Moca Chain, an EVM-compatible L1 (another one), built for identity and data:
“…where identity protocols and user-centric apps can build on and share a common network of data, users, and applications”
The Moca Chain will be an expansion of its original AIR Kit tooling, which included the AIR account and AIR ID system, acting as an “embedded entry point”, already used by various crypto-based apps
Builders who bring their apps to the chain will get access to tools to create identity protocols, access distribution, monetize data, and verify users:
Decentralized data storage, zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) onchain verifications, zkTLS, identity oracle for cross-chain verifications (I’m not pretending I know what this all means…)
Users can unify their identity and data, store it on the Moca Chain, prove it via ZKP, and leverage their data in exchange for rewards
The chain aims to solve 3 core problems:
Fragmented identity: User data is fragmented across apps, platforms, and chains, which lack the interoperability to unify this data. Therefore, Moca will introduce a unified ID layer and cross-chain identity (including KYC)
Safe identity checks: Checking identities through ZKP, meaning users can KYC, without revealing their identity
Permissioned data sharing: Moca chain will enable self-sovereign identity, meaning you can choose to share which apps you want to share your data with
The use cases are quite vast and include compliance, education, gaming, sports, healthcare, finance, etc.
So, Moca is going after the personal consumer data industry with this chain. Similar to what the World Network is doing in a way
And I don’t doubt people will start mass-selling their personal data in exchange for the potential rewards
CROSS THE AGES x ANIMOCA
Animoca Brands announced a strategic partnership with Cross the Ages last week. The gaming ecosystem, known for Cross the Ages: TCG
The VC aims to support the CTA ecosystem and the upcoming launch of the studio’s new ARPG: Arise
Animoca has been a supporter of the company since 2021. In 2024, it also led the round for CTA, in which the company raised $3.5M in exchange for equity.
As part of the partnership, they have also begun purchasing the CTA token, which has seen a significant increase in buying volume. MoM, the token is up 61%
Cross the Ages is working on a new version of the game called Blast, aimed at enhancing strategic depth and accessibility
With the release of this new game mode, scheduled for this month, the game also plans to migrate away from ImmutableX to Solana
Arise has been in development for 2.5 years. The official trailer for the game was released ~9 months ago
In May this year, the company started playtesting for the game, and the game seems to be in the pre-alpha phase now, with a scheduled release date of Q4 2025 on PC
The CTA website also mentions another game or project called “Reverse”, an economic model that connects lands in the game with RWAs
The studio also has products outside of gaming, and employs a multi-media strategy through books, movies/series, physical trading cards, merchandising, and comics
In March 2024, CTA released a Watch Dogs x CTA card collection that included an in-game integration of the characters in the TCG
Ubisoft (the owners of the Watch Dogs IP) and Polygon led CTA’s $12M seed round in 2022
Assumingly, the company also generated decent revenue through its pack sales over the years
Overall, I am a bit wary about Arise, when seeing the announcement trailer. I have my reservations about whether the game can compete with Web2, and don’t see it being appealing to the Web3 audience
But I hope I can be proven wrong…
