Gaming Chronicles focuses on curating the latest web3 gaming news, every week.
You will find the latest news, educational content, and game reviews.
Arbitrum, a gaming ecosystem that offers titles such as King of Destiny, Seraph, Pirate Nation, and Mighty Action Heroes, sponsors this newsletter.
The Lost Glitches just announced they secured a grant from Arbitrum. They also just kicked off a new competitive season (on Jan 17), bringing new rewards, such as Data Cores and USDC prizes.

🗞️ NEWS
GAMING AND OPEN RONIN
Open Ronin is around the corner (should be coming in early Feb), and things have been accelerating recently
Firstly they announced a $10M Ronin ecosystem grants fund last week
Tama Meme, the first Ronin-based meme launchpad just went live
And more, we just saw two games announce their migration to Ronin
The first game is Rumble Kong League, which announced its migration last week
Secondly, there’s Fishing Frenzy, by the Uncharted Studio, which just announced its migration today
Surprisingly they are expanding the game to a fishing RPG (similar to Dave the Diver) - introducing cooking, diving, expeditions, and more in a later stage
And, we also discussed the Operation Leviosa announcement last week:
Telling us that we can expect more announcements coming up, a few bangers on the day Ronin truly opens + "There will be an unexpected MMO on Ronin. Not from who you expect"
Ronin has been such a gaming-focused chain for the past years and DeFi will bring tons of new interest and so liquidity (TVL) to the chain (e.g. Tama Meme)
In theory, this should bring more liquidity to the best Ronin games that lean heavily toward DeFi as well (e.g. Cambria)
Ronin is gaining momentum rapidly, which I believe will increase as they unleash their marketing arsenal (bullish announcements) leading up to and on the day of Open Ronin
GIGAVERSE AND PROOF OF PLAY
Gigaverse is slowly releasing more information and last week they officially announced the game will be powered by Proof of Play (whilst launching on Abstract chain)
It seems Proof of Play has been misunderstood as another blockchain by the public. Because it’s actually “building a platform for large scale, high performance, ambitious onchain applications”
I.e. it builds infrastructure to power onhchain games that launch on other chains (like Abstract for this instance).
“Goal is building tools that can be deployed by any app on any EVM chain" ~ Adam Fern
“Any app”, so what they are building extends beyond games
Also called “the AWS of onchain games” by Apix
And it looks like the Gigaverse x PoP announcement has created a lot of interest in the infrastructure
As “onchain GameFi season” accelerates I assume PoP will partner with a lot of games in the coming months (maybe Onchain Heroes even?)
Lastly, on Gigaverse. They just released a trailer with a tiny bit of gameplay (feels very nostalgic) in there, plus explaining in the thread what we can expect at launch, including:
Combat (PvE), collect ERC1155 item economy, crafting, progress (skill system), and character skins (involving risk/reward mechanics)
Seems like they will launch with an MMP and continue to ship new features and test hypotheses on what features people want
INFRABUIDL(AI)
The Avalanche Foundation partners with Aethir to establish a $100M InfraBUIDL (AI) ecosystem fund (up to $15M per project)
In this partnership, Aethir will provide the computing power to enable scalable deployment of AI projects
The fund aims to attract innovators to the Avalanche ecosystem, strengthening its positioning as an AI ecosystem.
“The program will offer direct funding and retroactive grants to AI and machine learning (“ML”) researchers, developers, and startups who are building intelligent, scalable infrastructure on Avalanche”
Examples of applications include: autonomous chat agents, meme agents, social and influencer agents, agents infra, agent token tooling, DeFi agents, trading agents, etc.
In the previous round Suzaku (a restaking protocol) and Union (a ZK infra layer) were accepted to the program
With the announcement Avalanche introduced AiFRED “your AI-powered committee member”, an agent with VC traits, document analysis, intelligent questions, and in-depth evaluations
If you have been paying attention you might have noticed the amount of funds Aethir is deploying and co-creating…
The $150M Web3 gaming accelerator program with Beam, a $10M ecosystem grant program with XAI, a $10M grant fund with XPLA, and its own $100M ecosystem fund for AI Agents.
INFRABUIDL(AI) isn’t directly gaming-related. However, it’s setting up Avalanche to become a chain with tons of AI infrastructure, which games can integrate, build on, experiment with, etc.
