(P2A) EVENTS & SOCIALFI
It was a light week regarding P2A campaigns, however, I expect a lot of new opportunities in the upcoming weeks, after the holidays.
Pirate Nation is organizing its Polly Jolly Holiday Event until Jan 7
Complete Gauntlets, World Quests, special crafting, or tackle the Mausoleum to collect Crackers
Ragmon finalized Season 1 last week, pre-season will last until Jan 2, and Season 2 will start after
Swamp Gaming is organizing a $50K Dawn of Valeria esports tournament
Drop your username in the comments for a chance to get an invite
Rumble Kong League is the best P2A to play right now if you have the time to climb the leaderboards - ending on Jan 6.
MARKET TALK
ABSTRACT (GAMING)
If you have been following the timeline you might have noticed the announcements of (gaming) projects migrating to Abstract have vastly increased
Abstract is an open ecosystem, after all, so projects can freely migrate to the chain
This has the benefit of launch velocity and having 300+ projects on the chain when mainnet arrives, however, the downside is that there will be a lot of slop. So, curation becomes more important
To stay on top of the overall Abstract ecosystem, I can recommend:
Untamed Adam: providing daily updates during the week on everything Abstract (he was also a great “threadoor” on Blast)
Abstract Gazette: covering all the major announcements, and keeping track of NFT stats, the ecosystem map, and more on their website
Specifically, when it comes to gaming, we at Kronicles will be covering everything
So, let’s talk about the most interesting games that announced they will be building on Abstract so far:
Onchain Heroes (OCH): to get involved (beyond the rings) you can still get a Herolist, which gets you a GTD allocation for a Hero, which is needed to play the game.
The game is now in its private testing phase for holders and will be mobile-friendly
DUPER: “Poker meets Catan with Diplomacy”. DUPER is a very interesting game, which also involves wagering (interesting for degens). Plus the studio raised $8.7M
The only caveat I have with DUPER is that it’s quite complicated, making it more difficult for users to get onboard
PlayEmber: Currently, the most advanced game project on Abstract. It’s an ecosystem of various mobile casual games, some of which have been quite successful with millions of downloads
They might launch a new collection on Abstract when mainnet launches
Monsters.fun: an interesting combination of AI, trading, and combat
The only caveat is that we know very little about the product as of now and it could be a complete “nothing burger”
Overall, not that impressed by Abstract gaming yet, and I hope more mature projects will migrate soon
HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED TOKEN LAUNCHES 2025
Yesterday I reflected on the gaming token launches of 2024, a year that wasn’t that pretty if you ask me…
To summarize TGEs in 2024 from a high level:
Over 90% of launches peaked at launch
Many launches with low floats and high FDVs
The most TGEs occurred from February to June
TGEs became more community-centric in late Q3 and Q4
Confidence in gaming tokens rose in December
My main takeaway is to protect your capital and become hyper-specific in which projects deserve your liquidity
Apix’s post on reflecting on his $100K investment in gaming TGEs is an interesting perspective here, even though his hit rate was pretty good
Furthermore, these are the token launches I am highly anticipating in 2025 (bag bias + NFA):
Gunzilla $GUN (scheduled to launch in Q1)
Despite losing the velocity they had at launch, I believe they can easily win the market back
MapleStory Universe $NXPC
MSU fits the boxes of a strong IP, gameplay depth, and ownership (e.g. grey markets in prior versions)
Fableborne $POWER
Fableborne is arguably the best mobile Web3 game and has the potential to become the “liveops infra” token for multiple titles
Infinigods $GOD
Infinigods’ recent purchase of a Hyperliquid listing shows how adept they are in the crypto markets. This team wants its holders to win
Cambria (?)
“Runescape for crypto natives”. What else do you want?
Maxion $MAXI
I expect the release of Maxion Studios’ Ragnarok Landverse: Genesis on Ronin will make an impact. Plus, I believe they will have a blueprint for how to bridge strong Web2 games to Web3
Lastly, I believe “real” metrics such as revenue will become a more important factor in token success in the next year
ON THE RISE
Witty: “Solve or create puzzles to earn” is launching on Abstract
Keep an eye on ThirdWeb’s Nebula AI (you can also sign up for the waitlist)
