CREEPZ IS BUILDING GAMES

• In just over a week, the NFT IP Creepz announced it is developing two games:

  • Creepz Clash: a multiplayer hero shooter

  • Creepz Party: a multiplayer party game

• The Creepz NFT collection or “Creepz by OVERLORD” launched in early 2022:

  • Initially they launched the Invasion Pass collection of 8,888 NFTs, giving access to the LOOMI governance token

  • The flagship “Creepz Genesis” collection of 11,111 NFTs followed

  • By mid-2022, the IP hit a valuation of $400M

• Over time, the company has been investing into different forms of media (like many legacy NFT brands), with plans for a TV series, fashion collabs, and now 2 games

  • “Creepz isn’t just another NFT project—it’s the blueprint for how Web3 IP breaks into mainstream culture,” ~ Overlord

  • Both games will be powered by $CREEPZ, the native ecosystem token that hasn’t launched yet

    • More details on the token will be released during the full website launch

• Whilst the games look fun, and they’re allocating their funds to build something larger, we’ve yet to see an NFT collection grow into a successful and sustainable multi-media entertainment brand (outside of Pudgy Penguins and maybe Bored Apes)

  • The way I remember Creepz holders is that they often create a feud on the timeline. Is this just me?

PARALLEL INTRODUCES SANCTUARY

• After announcing its third-person shooter in September last year, called Tau Ceti, Parallel now re-introduced the game as Sanctuary

  • The original trailer is quite reminiscent of some of the Star Wars titles, IMO, because the sci-fi theme

  • New gameplay provides some insights into the extraction features of the game, similar to Shrapnel and Deadrop

• The game will launch on the B3 chain. This partnership with Parallel was announced mid-February, last month

• This will be Parallel’s third game they’re developing: TCG, Colony, and now Sanctuary

• Overall, not a lot to unpack yet, and the build looks in its early stages, so wouldn’t expect a public playtest for the game for a while

VALERIA GAMES SHUTTING DOWN

• Considering this week is a bit dry, let’s “double-tap” on the Valeria Games news and what we learned so far

  • The studio suspended development for both their game and TCG, because they ran out of funds

  • Some people believe they didn’t end up launching a token, however, they TGE’d the VAL token in October ‘23 and had plans to transition to the LOV token in Q4 ‘24

• From an early investor and equity holder, Shan, we get more insights:

  • “The team from our experience didn’t have any ill intent.”

    • I am also hearing the game simply wasn’t good enough and was still in a rough shape when they held their P2A. This probably led to them not being able to raise another round

  • “They didn’t raise multiple millions from NFT mint or from VCs like most other game studios.”

    • Most of their runway seemed fueled by the VAL token launch and the sales of card packs. The latter created a sentiment of the studio being indebted to the community

  • “I still believe some gaming studio/team can bail them out or acquire.”

    • Very unlikely at this point, but one can hope

• What also left a sour taste in people’s mouths is the “$2.5M P2A campaign”

  • This campaign promised an airdrop of the LOV token in exchange for completing tasks, of course, these expectations weren’t met

  • The studio generated over $100,000 for the campaign

    • Probably a last-minute attempt to extend their runway in hindsight

• Overall, the team seemed genuine, however, couldn’t succeed in building a good and monetizable product (the reality of building games)

  • 2025 will likely be a bloodbath as many teams won’t be able to raise again and run out of funds
