🗞️ NEWS
PARAVOX RAISES $4.5M
A couple of days ago 81RAVENS, the studio behind PARAVOX, announced they raised $4.5M in a Seed round
PARAVOX is an esports-focused arena-based TPS that features “tactical Strikepoint rules” and high-speed combat (Epic Games)
81RAVENS was founded in 2020 by a team from esports, explaining the game's focus on this aspect of gaming.
The CEO and co-founder added his statement to the raise announcement:
“While we may appear to be a game studio, our true identity as a platform is our unique insight, enabling us to connect all aspects of esports through tokens and accurately measure each title’s market size.”
This suggests the studio has plans to develop multiple titles
The game hosted the PARAVOX Global Rapid Tournament (PGRT) in July this year
PGRT had a prize pool of 100M yen ($650K) and attracted over half a million viewers, with 23 esports teams attending. Quite a sizeable prize pool, considering the game is only in Open Alpha
In terms of traction, they acquired 100K+ downloads so far
On YouTube, you can see they’ve been hosting a couple of events this year
Recently, PARAVOX announced they chose Solana as their chain, and you can claim a free skin by downloading the game on Epic
HOLDARA JOINS MONAD
In other migration news: Holdara announced they are joining the Monad ecosystem (similar to Sparkball recently)
Holdara is a 3rd-person action-adventure MMORPG set in a sandbox world with a science fiction theme (early gameplay)
Inside the game, there will be no NPCs, instead, all tasks will be fulfilled by the players themselves
Your character can be hired by other players to perform various jobs when you’re offline
When an in-game region is reclaimed, players will be able to secure land plots
They can build structures on the plots they own, or collaborate with others
Furthermore, we know that there will be an in-game utility and governance token
A little while ago the studio rebranded from BLOCKBORN to Collective Anvil
In 2022 they raised either $2.86M or $7.5M (the sources are contradicting) in a Seed round led by Delphi, BITKRAFT, and YGG
The studio seems small with only 11 employees listed on its LinkedIn, however, members seem well-experienced in the gaming industry
Lastly, they’re releasing the Ancients Collection this month (1000 supply), providing holders Foundational Access to the game (pre-early access)
PIXELS UPDATE
Luke, the founder of Pixels shared a detailed update regarding the game recently. It has a bunch of interesting insights, so here are some of the highlights:
They managed to lower their DAUWs, maintain real DAU, and increase monthly revenue in the past 90 days
I assume this means they have improved botting/multi-accounting measures, which improves economy balance, and so the experience of genuine players
Last 30-day revenue: 9.08M PIXEL, previous 30 days: 8.1M PIXEL (+12%)
Pixels has been starting to build more revenue streams besides VIP, and coin purchasing has become the largest in-game PIXEL burn
Daily coin inflation has dropped ~84% since the release of Chapter 2.5
This chapter included new quests, a revamped reputation system, and new rules regarding harvesting
Pixels has over 2 years of gameplay data now and has been investing heavily in data science and prediction to build models to increase the effectiveness of in-game rewards
The goal is to give more tokens to users who are more likely to use them in-game
Generally, the lack of “user qualification methods” is a huge problem in Web3. E.g. airdrop farmers who dump all your tokens on TGE
The # of on-chain interactions will be increased by transitioning more items to the blockchain
The purpose of this move is to create more insights into the token economy and more use cases for PIXELS (like staking)
Overall, Pixels is one of the very few post-TGE games that has been successfully maintaining interest in the game through continued LiveOps
They are pioneering a playbook for the Web3 games of the future.
